Funeral PlanIf EVER there was a smart investment for people over 60 it would have to be investing in a pre paid funeral plan. Why? I hear you ask. It’s simple. When, not if, but when you die, you may correctly assume that the family you leave behind will be at their most emotional and their saddest at that time. If you have been in the situation of losing a close family member then you know exactly what I am saying. There are so many things to do and so many official matters to take care of where does one start? On top of that there are the funeral preparations and the form which the funeral will take. Add to that the cost of the funeral and, well, you start to get my point. On the other hand there are the ones who have not only got a pre-paid funeral but have paid for their own funeral on an easy funeral plan and have arranged their funeral while they were alive, thus negating the need for the relatives to be guessing at what the person would have liked. Funeral plans and pre-paid funerals are a bit like life insurance really. You don’t get the direct benefit but your loved ones do and they are not left in limbo when you die. So why is it that so few people take out a pre paid funeral or a funeral plan? I believe it’s a number of reasons. Firstly it’s selfishness. Why not buy a new car instead? An overseas trip perhaps? Secondly, ignorance. A lot of people don’t even know this service exists. Thirdly it’s arrogance. Why should I have to pay for my OWN funeral? If my family love me that much they can pay for it! No Comment. At www.obits.com.au there is a list of many funeral directors in Australia who offer this service.
