ODE TO CHRIS
I guess you're sitting way up there
Looking down upon us all
And you're having a good old laugh
Knowing what our worries are
Knowing that we'll carry them
Until we're all together again
When we can all just let them go
And be as free as you are now
I remember all your cynicism's
I remember your irreverent wit
Broken up with telephone calls
And replays of races on the box
I remember your little anecdote
About a diamond in the rough
And all those other ethnic tales
Of modified cars they called grenades
Because you used them only once
For doing burnouts during weddings
And putting space between the cops
And apparently you knew something
About the art of horse-racing
A country son with business genes
Remind me what agistment means?
I guess you're walking better now
And all the pain has gone away
You're saddled up and galloping on
You ran good one - home and hosed
