Hi Sue,
So sad to hear about Derek. We have so many wonderful memories of Derek. For a little guy he had a huge personality. I remember when we first met Derek at Durras and he used to drop around to our campsite for a chat and a cuppa. We had such great times with you all at Durras and then when you came along to All Saints. Derek was also so lovely to Kris when she was a "horse kid" and he did their feet. It was always such a joy to catch up with him again even if we hadn't seen him for years. Prayed for Derek, and all of you, a lot in recent months. Take care and we will continue to pray for you all.Give our love to George and Laurel too. Unfortunately we can not come to the funeral (work commitments) although we would love to be there. Our thoughts and prayers are will be with you. With love Lyn and John Kalkman x

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Derek played an enormous role for the local horse community and I know many, many people will miss him dearly. I will always remember my times with him at Durras and in the horse world fondly. Love Kristen

I'm so sorry about your loss, I didn't even know Derek was sick, I gave away the horses a few years ago and have been out of touch.. I was totally in shock and shed a few tears it's a great loss he helped me with my horses and some relationship problems I was having at the time. He was an awesome and endearing person and made an imprint on my heart. Sue he spoke so fondly of you all of the time whilst he was shoeing my horses. I hope you are doing ok.
regard Karen

Sue, I’m sorry to hear about my Uncle Derek. Even though I only knew him for a little while, I enjoyed every moment that I spent with him. I only wish I could have spent more time getting to know him. I will miss him; he is a good man and will be sadly missed. Thank you Derek for good memories.
