The funeral service for Doreen will be held in the Chapel of Norwood Park Crematorium on Friday June 9, commencing at 3pm.

Doreen will be later interred at Gungahlin Cemetery

Dearly beloved wife of Arthur (dec).
Mother of Patricia (dec), Max and Ken.
Grandmother of their children.

Doreen was the last surviving child of Henry (Harry) Hawke who brought his ten children from Araluen to Canberra in the 1920's to live initially in Molonglo Settlement. From there they and their descendants, and their partners, came to play a significant role in virtually every facet of the development and life of Canberra from Parliament House up to the present - in sport, business, government, academia, charities and elsewhere.

Doreen and Arthur were fortunate in spending their latter years with Goodwin Aged Care - first in Ainslie and, Doreen, later in Farrer Hostel, where she died peacefully on June 5.

Doreen's family thank Goodwin for their outstanding care at Farrer and also thank Daphne and Lee, fellow residents, whose friendship meant so much to Doreen.
