George's Funeral Service will be officiated by Chaplain Bob Hooper from Orana Nursing Home.

George passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 4, 2009 at the Orana Nursing Home at Point Clare where he had lived for 7 years. He was aged 94 years.

George Baker was born on April 24, 1915 to William and Ann (nee Nicholson) Baker at Rylstone near Mudgee NSW. He was the eldest of three children, brother to Hector and Flora.

On June 17, 1940 at the age of 25 years, NX32493 George Baker joined the Army at Paddington. He proudly served his country through out WW11 attaining the rank of L/Cpl serving his time with 2/1 Machine Gun Battalion.

It was not until the age of 40 that George married his sweetheart Joan at Darlinghurst. George and Joan had over 45 wonderful years together until Joan passed away in 2001.

A beloved husband to Joan (deceased), devoted and loving uncle of Gayle and her ex husband Michael, George will be very sadly missed by his sister in law Monica, all his family and particularly his friends at Orana Nursing Home at Point Clare.

George, it seems like only yesterday we were together enjoying each other's company, and it is hard to believe that it has been almost one month since you passed. I miss you so very very much. Love Gayle
