Obituary
John died peacefully on Monday 22 January after a short illness. He was the loving husband of Niddrie and much loved father and mentor of Andrew, Caroline and Emma.
He was the devoted grandfather of Louis, Elijah, Olivia, Georgie, Evalyn and Colin.
To Richard, Gavin and Erika he was their loving father-in-law and friend.
John has left a great legacy to jazz in Australia through his work as a musician, teacher, band leader, artistic director of festivals and as a mentor to many.
He was a wonderful spirit who was an inspiration to the many people who were lucky enough to know him.
