A Memorial Service in Maylean's presence will be held in the Australian Nurses War Memorial Chapel, Pine Ave Little Bay, Sydney, on Saturday June 10, 2006, commencing at 10.30am.

The family request the consideration of a monetary donation, in lieu of tributes or flowers, be made in favour of the Maylean Jessie Cordia Memorial Museum Fund, in specific support of the future education of Nurses in Australia and its nearest Neighbours (ie. East Timor and Pacific Islands).

Beloved daughter of the Late Hon. Robert (Bob)
Heffron, former ALP Premier of NSW and
Jessie Heffron (nee Bjonstad).
Sister of Jack Cunningham and June Healy,
sister-in-law of Ted Healy and aunt of Louise Houghton.
Wife of a devoted husband, retired Captain,
Pieter Cordia OAM. JP. in a marriage of over 60 years,
Mother of Robert, her only son and Grandmother of his
daughters, Ithaka and Francesca Cordia.

Maylean throughout her active life contributed enthusiasm
and energy to many causes and associations, she was at her
death the President of the Prince Henry Hospital Trained
Nurses Association and the CEO of the Prince Henry Hospital
Nursing and Medical Museum at Little Bay.
She was persistent and showed perserverance in the pursuit
of goals to further the education of nurses by setting a role
model for stewardship of the Museum at Little Bay undertaken
by a non-government body.
A historian of local nursing she was a prodigious writer and
speechmaker being a President in the Penguins in NSW.
A lover of Political Science and Sociology she had also left an
indelible mark for future generations.
