My thoughts and deepest sympathy with you Fiona and your family. I will always remember Bill as one of my favorite patients - he would casually show photos of his sons ( who played a bit of rugby - not union), and his grandkids and then write essays on them... he was just always so proud of them. I also remember the day that another laryngectomy patient and him just sat across each other "having a conversation" - neither of them able to talk of course! It was a pleasure and my honour to look after him for a little while - his sense of humour, great attitude, cheekiness and graciousness always came through. So, goodbye Bill. My thoughts with your family. Dr Michelle Wong, St Vincent's.

When I recall all my memories of Uncle Bill, I chuckle. He seemed to have a sparkle that made many people smile. There were many lovable parts to his character but I think for me, it was his cheeky grin and rumbling laughter that made him "Uncle Bill". I am so sorry he has passed away because I know how much he loved you all and in return was loved equally as much by all of you. You are in my thoughts. With love, Vanessa xxxxxx

It's always hard to say goodbye
with a lump in your throat, and a tear in your eye.
Many good days we shared Bill.
Sharing a laugh, a beer and a joke.
I will miss you lots Bill.
You where a bloody good bloke.
Your infectious humour will be missed Bill
As will your laughing eyes
Your caring and your kindness
Which you tried to hide
So to you I say farewell Bill
To you not a goodbye
For you will always be in my memory
Till the day I die
So to you I say Farewell Bill
As you Drive your ute up to the gate
you were not only my Brother in Law
But also a bloody great mate
your Mum , Dad, and Mother in Law are waiting
So don't be bloody late
Rest in Peace Bill
Tom
